Getting Ringtones to your Fans

February 20th, 2008 · by matt

I know many bands would like to get ringtones to their fans, and most indie bands would be happy to get them to their fans for free.

Check out the Ringtones section of the Online Tools on this site to read about companies in this field. I recently used Myxer for a band I manage and it has worked great. It is very easy and uncomplicated to use. They don’t charge a fee if you are distributing your ringtones for free, but if you want to charge then fees for the Myxer service will apply.

Myxer also allows fans to personalize the part of the song they want as a ringtone if they don’t like the section you initially set up, which is a great and fun tool for sure. Their software to do this is incredibly easy.

The site was cool, BUT … but it doesn’t work with my iPhone. Good idea in principal but its tough to develop software for phones, so many different systems and manufactures.

To get Ringtones for an iPhone check out Audacity to edit the song and iToner to get it on the phone.

I have found that Myxer does work with iPhones, iPhones are tricky because the force you to use iTunes to setup ringtones so the dilevery method is diffrent. Myxer now offers an iPhone link for every ringtone that walks you through the process which uses bluetooth to transfer the correct format to your iPhone. Go check it out for yourself.
