For those of you looking for a way to sell your music without giving iTunes or others the standard one third cut (or more), check out MixPal. Their MixLink button can be embedded into your own site and fans can click it to purchase albums or single tracks at the price you set. There will be about a 15% fee (not so bad), with the rest going directly to the artist’s PayPal account. Very easy!

Another sale service we just met with at SXSW is http://www.Artistxite.com. Bands upload their songs onto their service and then those bands can embed the Artist|xite service onto their website to sell music directly to fans. Artist|xite take a 20% cut, which is better than most.
The real key is that they allow fans or bloggers who write about a band to place an Artist|xite music player below their write-up so other readers can hear the music they are writing about as they are reading the review. And the real key - if someone purchases music from this link the fan or blogger gets 10% of the sale.
We will have them up on Online Tools soon, and they may become a V11 Recommended company too…
