The National Association of Record Industry Professionals (NARIP) was started a few years ago by an entertainment lawyer in Los Angeles named Tess Taylor. They set upon panel discussions mostly in the LA area (but also in San Francisco, Las Vegas, Phoenix, New York and London) on issues related to the changing music industry and band management issues. Recently they began to offer downloaded MP3 versions of these panel discussions. Discussions can be downloaded for purchase from their website.

I was actually one of the first people to download their panel discussions. I found this to be a great way to educate myself on industry norms and trends, especially since I don’t live in LA and can’t attend these events in person. I would just download these discussions and listen to them in the car.
Personally, I would like the downloads to be a bit cheaper, even though I appreciate that NARIP needs to charge enough to keep people paying and coming to their live events, which range from $20 to $40.
